A Child Loses His Hand in Explosion of Houthi-Planted IED in Western Yemen

A child was injured in the explosion of a camouflaged improvised explosive device (IED) planted by the Houthis in Hajah Governorate, western Yemen.
The Yemeni Mine Observatory (NGO) explained that “the child, Adel Kadish, suffered various injuries, including the amputation of his left hand, in the explosion of a camouflaged IED shaped like a toy, planted by the Houthi group.”
The observatory added that “the child found the camouflaged IED while herding sheep in Abs district of Hajah Governorate.”
Hundreds of thousands of mines have been planted in roads, farms, and people’s homes in several governorates.
The Yemeni government accuses the Houthis of planting thousands of mines targeting civilians in several governorates.
