Yemeni Academic Freed from Al-Assad’s Prisons After 11 Years of Abduction

The Syrian opposition has freed a Yemeni academic and physician who was abducted by Bashar al-Assad regime in 2013 and has not been heard from since.
Sources within the Syrian opposition reported that Dr. “Riyadh Ahmed Abdullah al-Omaiysi,” who was arrested in 2013, was released as part of the release of prisoners abducted by the regime.
“Al-Omaiysi ” emerged from Assad’s prison with memory loss.
His family in Hajjah Governorate has been contacted, and Yemeni youth are working to reach him in Syrian territory.
Riyadh al-Omaiysi was pursuing a master’s degree and then a doctorate in human medicine in Syria. During his studies, the Syrian revolution erupted, and he was abducted by the regime while treating the wounded.
