On the Anniversary of Independence Day, Yemeni Parties Coalition Calls for Restoring the State and Economic Recovery
Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The National Coalition of Yemeni Political Parties and Components called on Friday for Yemeni anti-Houthi forces to draw inspiration from the spirit of struggle and sacrifice embodied in the anniversary of independence to confront the current challenges, work hand in hand to restore the state, end the Houthi coup, and achieve economic recovery.
This came in a statement issued on the 57th anniversary of independence, November 30, marking the departure of the last British soldier from South Yemen on November 30, 1967.
The National Coalition urged the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to exert efforts to alleviate the suffering of Yemenis in order to achieve economic recovery and provide services to citizens throughout the country.
The coalition saluted the Yemeni people on the anniversary of national independence, saying that it “embodied the highest meanings of struggle and liberation from British occupation, forcing it to leave our holy land on November 30, 1967.”
It added: “We proudly remember the sacrifices of the heroes who gave their lives and blood for independence and in defense of the dignity and sovereignty of their homeland, and we pledge to them to move forward to achieve the goals of the Yemeni revolutions, represented in building a state of law and institutions that guarantee dignity and justice for all its citizens, a federal civilian state.”
The “National Coalition” affirmed its adherence to the principles of the September and October revolutions, which represent the pillars of building the modern state and its foundations, which are citizenship, the rule of law, democracy, human rights, social justice, and working to restore the state, end the coup, and end internal divisions, reject violence and sectarianism, and spread a culture of tolerance and coexistence.”
