UAE Announces Death of a Soldier Injured in Yemen War
Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The United Arab Emirates announced on Wednesday the death of one of its soldiers who had been injured while participating in the ongoing war in Yemen.
The UAE Ministry of Defense said, “We mourn the martyr of duty, Staff Sergeant Mohammed Atiq Salem bin Saloomah Al Khayyili, who sustained critical injuries during his participation in Operation Decisive Storm in Yemen in 2015. He was in intensive care and passed away yesterday evening.”
The UAE participated in the Saudi-led Arab coalition against the Houthis since 2015 before announcing its withdrawal from Yemen in 2019.
Despite announcing its withdrawal from the ongoing war in Yemen, the UAE continues to have a presence through its allied forces in southern and western Yemen.
