Yemeni Prime Minister Leaves for Saudi Arabia in Search of Support for His Country’s Economy

Prime Minister Ahmed Bin Mubarak has left the temporary capital Aden for Saudi Arabia, coinciding with the continuing collapse of the Yemeni Rial and the government’s hopes for Saudi support to address this historic decline.
The official Yemeni news agency reported that a responsible source stated Prime Minister Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak left the temporary capital Aden heading to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to consult with the political leadership, brothers, and friends regarding urgent economic support to overcome the prevailing challenges and fluctuations in the national currency’s exchange rate.
He added that Bin Mubarak would discuss progress on the reforms being implemented by the government in various economic, financial, and administrative aspects, as well as combating corruption, enhancing transparency and accountability, and the measures taken to ensure the government continues to meet its obligatory commitments.
In recent months, the Yemeni Rial has recorded a historic and unprecedented collapse, reaching over 2,070 Rials to one dollar, while the Saudi Rial has exceeded 540, marking a significant decline in the Rial’s value amidst its highest drop in history.
