Houthis Announce the Targeting of Israeli Air Base with a Hypersonic Missile
Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
Houthis have launched a missile attack on the Israeli Nevatim airbase located in the Negev region of the southern occupied territories.
Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthi group, made the announcement on Friday as he addressed a public rally in Sana’a held in support of Gaza and Lebanon.
He said: “in solidarity with the oppressed peoples of Palestine and Lebanon and in support of their resistance movements, we carried out a military operation targeting the Israeli Nevatim Airbase in the Naqab region of southern occupied Palestine”.
He added, the operation involved a “Palestine 2” hypersonic missile has successfully hit its target and our operations will not cease until the aggression stops, the blockade on Gaza is lifted, and the attacks on Lebanon end.
This marks the second time this month the Houthis claimed to have targeted the Nevatim Air Base, with a similar strike reported on Nov. 8.
Sirens sounded Thursday evening in settlements south of occupied al-Quds, according to the Israeli Home Front Command.
Since November, the Houthis have continued to launch missile and drone attacks in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, initially targeting commercial ships that they believe are linked to Israel or heading to its ports, saying that this is in support of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. They have subsequently begun announcing the launch of missiles and drones towards “Israel” over the past few months.
A coalition led by the US has been conducting airstrikes since the beginning of 2024 that it said are targeting Houthi locations in parts of Yemen in response to attacks by the group on shipping in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. The counterattacks have been occasionally met with retaliation from the group.
