Yemeni Prime Minister Refers Corruption Cases to the Attorney General
Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak has referred new violations related to corruption and crimes affecting public funds to the Attorney General for investigation and necessary action.
According to the official Yemeni News Agency, a responsible source in the Prime Minister’s office confirmed that bin Mubarak sent a letter to the Attorney General outlining the violations committed by the Executive Director of the Petroleum Investments Company.
The directive included the failure of the Director of the Petroleum Investments Company to uphold public property and to act independently in negotiations concerning the transfer and operation of one of the oil sectors.
The source explained that the letter included a comprehensive file of the violations committed, which led to its referral for investigation.
The source reiterated the Prime Minister’s absolute commitment to safeguarding public funds and combating all forms of corruption, considering it a top priority. He pointed out that the judiciary is the judge and decisive authority in these matters, so that no one thinks they are immune from accountability or that they are above the law.
