Local Official: Cholera Deaths in Taiz Rise to 52 Since the Start of 2024

Health authorities in the southwestern Yemeni governorate of Taiz have announced that cholera deaths have risen to 52 since the beginning of 2024.
Tayssir al-Sama’i, media official at the Ministry of Health’s office in Taiz governorate, explained that cholera deaths in the governorate have reached 52 since the beginning of this year.
He added to the German News Agency (DPA) that “cases of the disease in the governorate have risen to 8,461.”
Al-Sama’i indicated that among these cases, 1,382 have been confirmed through laboratory tests.
The health official urged citizens to follow the necessary preventive measures to curb the spread of the epidemic.
He also called on international organizations to intervene quickly to support the Yemeni health authorities in order to urgently control the spread of the cholera epidemic.
