Yemeni and Belgian Children Celebrate World Children’s Day

The Yemeni community in Belgium held a celebration on the occasion of World Children’s Day on November 20, 2024, in the Belgian city of Namur, under the slogan “You are the future, and we must protect you.”
During the event, which was attended by many Yemeni and Belgian children from diverse backgrounds and cultures, the Vice President of the community, Lina Al-Ashwal, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of children’s rights and the need to provide care and protection for them. She also stressed the importance of educating parents about their roles in supporting their children and encouraging them to pursue education and knowledge.
Al-Ashwal expressed her sorrow for the situation of Yemeni children living under armed conflicts, increasing poverty, and inequality, emphasizing the importance of collective work to make a positive difference in children’s lives.
The event included many fun activities such as drawing, coloring, henna, and recreational games, where children expressed their feelings and aspirations through paintings and drawings, in addition to raising banners in multiple languages demanding their rights to education, health, and a decent life.
At the end of the event, Lina Al-Ashwal distributed gifts and certificates of appreciation to the participating children, wishing them a happy year and a bright future, and affirming the commitment of the Yemeni community in Belgium to supporting children’s issues and promoting their rights everywhere.
