Islah Party Presents Its Vision for a Yemen Solution to UN Envoy’s Delegation

A delegation from the Islah Party discussed with the office of the UN envoy to Yemen the efforts related to achieving peace in Yemen and the Islah Party’s vision for the pillars of comprehensive and sustainable peace, in a meeting held in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

During the meeting, the head of the Islah Party delegation and member of the party’s higher committee, Abdul Razak al-Hajri, noted that a ceasefire and confidence-building measures are essential steps in the process of achieving comprehensive and sustainable peace.

Al-Hajri affirmed the Islah Party’s support for all efforts aimed at achieving peace, in accordance with the three references: national, regional, and international, ensuring the restoration of the state, the withdrawal of weapons from militias, and the exclusive right of the state to possess heavy weapons.

The Islah Party delegation emphasized that the release of abductees and forcibly disappeared persons is a top priority, as well as the implementation of UN Resolution 2216, which calls for the release of the abducted politician, activist Mohammed Qahtan, who is included in the resolution, and all the provisions of the resolution regarding the Houthi militia.

The delegation stressed the need to agree on transparent and balanced mechanisms to address the repercussions of the economic situation, ensure the distribution of humanitarian aid, work to end the financial division, unify the currency, and support the central bank in Aden to resume paying the salaries of employees according to the 2014 payroll, while ensuring the transfer of all revenues to the government treasury from all of Yemen’s geography in accordance with the Stockholm Agreement, and the swift lifting of the siege on Taiz Governorate.
