Two Saudi soldiers were killed and a third was injured on Friday when a Yemeni soldier opened fire on them at the First Military Region in Seiyun, Hadhramaut Governorate, eastern Yemen.
Sources told Yemen Monitor that a Yemeni soldier stormed a joint Saudi-Yemeni meeting at the First Military Region and opened fire on the Saudi soldiers.
The sources clarified that the First Military Region issued a circular to all military checkpoints to apprehend the shooter immediately.
Both Saudi and Yemeni military forces are stationed in the city of Seiyun, Hadhramaut Governorate, within the First Military Region.
In September 2019, a military patrol affiliated with the First Military Region in Wadi Ben Alib, Shabwa district of Wadi Hadhramaut, was attacked, resulting in the death of the commander of the Arab coalition forces in Wadi Hadhramaut, Colonel Bandar Al-Atibi “Abu Nawaf,” along with four other soldiers, including two Saudis and two Yemenis. Other soldiers were also injured.
