Saudi Newspaper: Yemeni Culture is One of the Oldest in the World

The Saudi newspaper, Al-Riyadh, stated on Monday that Yemeni culture is one of the oldest in the world, with roots dating back thousands of years, making it a prominent cultural center in human history.
It added: Yemen is known for the historic Saba Kingdom, which was famous for its trade and prosperity. Yemeni culture is characterized by its vast diversity, including musical arts that reflect the heritage of rural and urban areas, as well as folk dances like the bar’ah and ‘asida, which are performed at social and national occasions. Yemeni cuisine is known for its diverse flavors, with mandi, zurbian, and fahsa being iconic dishes that reflect the traditions of hospitality and welcome.
According to the newspaper: As part of an initiative to enhance communication with residents launched by the Ministry of Media in partnership with the General Entertainment Authority under the slogan “Global Harmony”, Al-Suwaidi Park in the capital, Riyadh, witnessed a distinctive Yemeni cultural event, bringing together a large crowd of citizens and residents in the Kingdom to learn about the richness of Yemeni culture on a cultural day filled with diverse activities.
It emphasized that Al-Suwaidi Park transformed into a vibrant platform showcasing the beauty of Yemeni heritage, through the display of traditional clothing, folk dishes, and folklore dances, allowing visitors the opportunity to interact and enjoy a unique cultural experience. The event also included a range of diverse activities, such as craft shows highlighting traditional skills, Yemeni cuisine tasting stations, as well as artistic and musical performances that were widely praised by the audience.
It added: Yemeni culture is not limited to arts and cuisine but also includes handicrafts that embody cultural identity. Yemenis are distinguished by their creativity in pottery, weaving, and the like. These crafts contribute to preserving heritage and reflect a long history of innovation and creativity.
The “Days of Yemen” event aims to embrace cultural diversity and strengthen human bonds. The initiative seeks to create an environment of understanding and tolerance between different cultures and provides residents with the opportunity to express their cultures in an atmosphere of mutual respect, enhancing social cohesion. This event represents part of a comprehensive series of cultural events aimed at promoting dialogue and exchange of experiences between different communities, and enriching the cultural life in the Kingdom, contributing to building a society rich in diversity and understanding.
