Yemeni human rights organizations have renewed their calls on Saturday for the release of journalist Muhammad Al-Miyahi, who has been held in Houthi prisons in Sanaa for over a month.
The Association of Yemeni Mothers of the Abducted (a civil society organization) and other human rights groups called for the swift release of journalist Muhammad Dabwan Al-Miyahi in an online protest.
The statement reiterated its call on the international community to hold perpetrators of violations against journalists accountable and prevent them from impunity, coinciding with the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists.
Earlier, Al-Miyahi’s lawyer announced reaching a dead-end in the case of his abduction, expressing uncertainty about his fate or the referral of his case to the judicial authorities.
Al-Miyahi was abducted on September 20 from his home by forces affiliated with the Houthi group in Sanaa, who raided his home and confiscated some of his belongings. Since then, the circumstances of his abduction have been shrouded in disturbing secrecy.
