Socotra Academics Launch a Research Center in Al-Mahra

The city of Al-Ghaydah, the capital of Mahra Governorate, hosted on Monday a ceremony to inaugurate the Socotra Center for Strategic and Humanitarian Studies, attended by dozens of academics, political figures, and officials.
Participants in the inauguration ceremony stated that the center is a significant step that enhances efforts to promote research and specialized studies in the fields of humanitarian and community development.
The ceremony witnessed the wide attendance of officials, academics, social, and tribal figures from both Al-Mahra and Socotra governorates.
In his speech, the center’s president, Dr. Fahad Kafaain, emphasized the importance of establishing this scientific edifice, which aims to provide studies and research that enhance understanding of regional and international challenges.
He pointed out that the center will seek to provide strategic visions based on local realities, focusing on enhancing the community’s capacity to face humanitarian and economic challenges, especially in light of the current developments in the region. It will also be a source of support for researchers in various humanitarian fields.
The center aims to develop and expand horizons of academic cooperation between researchers and interested parties, as well as research and scientific institutions, to produce results and outputs that support the decisions of policymakers in official institutions.
It also reflects the academic community’s interest in developing knowledge and contributing to the process of sustainable development, thus forming a vibrant platform for exchanging ideas and experiences between academics and policymakers in the region.
