Yemen Under the Influence of a Deep Low-Pressure System: Heavy Rains and Thunderstorms

The National Meteorology Center announced today, Tuesday, that Yemen’s regional waters, east of the Gulf of Aden, are being affected by a low-pressure area and a state of atmospheric instability in the coming hours.

In the weather bulletin, it stated that our regional waters, east of the Gulf of Aden, are in a low-pressure area with a state of atmospheric instability, and therefore the National Meteorology Center and Early Warning expects:

• Heavy rains and thunderstorms: Intense thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds are expected in eastern parts of the Gulf of Aden, coastal and highland areas of Mahra and Hadhramaut governorates, and parts of Socotra Archipelago.
• Scattered rains: Scattered rains, sometimes accompanied by thunder, are expected in parts of Lahj, Taiz, Ibb, Al Dhale’a, Raymah, Al Mahwit, Hajjah, and western Sa’ada governorates, as well as parts of the Tihama plain, the western coast, and mountainous areas of Abyan and Shabwah governorates.
• Rough seas: The center warned of rough seas and high waves around Socotra Archipelago and eastern Gulf of Aden.
The center advised fishermen and sailors to be cautious due to rough seas and high waves in the eastern Gulf of Aden, eastern coasts, and Socotra Archipelago.
It also warned citizens against being in valleys, riverbeds, and bridges during and after rainfall and thunderstorms, and advised taking precautions.
Drivers were urged to be cautious due to reduced visibility on roads and mountain slopes caused by fog, mist, or low clouds.
