Five Earthquakes Strike West of the Gulf of Aden

Seismic stations at the National Center for Seismology and Volcanology in Dhamar Governorate recorded five moderate and light earthquakes west of the Gulf of Aden on Monday.
The center, which is run by the Houthis in Dhamar Governorate, said that an earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale was recorded at the intersection of latitudes 12.107 north and longitudes 46.09 east, at 1:12 pm local time, followed by two seismic activities in the same location, the first with a magnitude of 2.9 at 1:25 pm and the second with a magnitude of 2.8 at 1:27 pm.
The stations also recorded two earthquakes at the intersection of latitudes 12.12 north and longitudes 46.15 east, the first with a magnitude of 2.5 on the Richter scale at 1:27 pm, and the second with a magnitude of 3.6 at 3:04 pm.
The center said that these seismic activities fall within the normal activities recorded in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, as a result of the continuous opening of their floors at a rate of 3-5 cm per year, and the movement of the Arabian plate.
