The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the destruction of 20 one-way attack unmanned aerial systems (OWAAS) and land attack cruise missiles (LACMs) launched by the Houthis and other Iran-backed groups.
In a statement, CENTCOM said that “over the past week, U.S. Central Command forces successfully destroyed 20 one-way attack unmanned aerial systems (OWAUAS) and land attack cruise missiles (LACMs) – the exact number of cruise missiles was not specified – within the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.”
It added that the drones and missiles were downed by a combination of U.S. Air Force and Navy assets deployed in the region, and that no U.S. personnel were harmed in these operations.
CENTCOM stated that it had conducted several strikes targeting Houthi capabilities over the past week.
It explained that the drones and missiles launched by the Houthis and Iran-backed armed groups posed a significant threat to the US, its allies and partner forces, as well as civilians in the region and beyond.
