The Yemeni Islah Party, the largest Islamic party in Yemen, expressed its deepest condolences for the passing of Yahya Sinwar, the leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement, who was martyred in a direct confrontation with Israeli occupation forces in Gaza.
In a statement, Islah expressed its condolences to Palestine and its resistance, mourning their martyrs and the exceptional leader Al-Sinwar, who was killed while fighting alongside his people last Wednesday.
Islah reiterated its “firm and unwavering position on the Palestinian cause, people, rights, and courageous resistance, as part of the official and popular position of the Republic of Yemen, which has been steadfast throughout the history of the Palestinian cause.”
Islah affirmed that this position has been, and will always be, in favor of the just Palestinian rights and its valiant resistance in its legitimate struggle to restore its historical rights, land, and sovereignty, until the establishment and declaration of its independent state with Al-Quds as its capital.
On Friday, Hamas officially announced the martyrdom of its political bureau chief, Yahya Al-Sinwar, “engaged in combat and confronting the Israeli army,” after Israel announced his death on Thursday in clashes in Gaza Strip.
The Israeli occupation army announced that Al-Sinwar was killed by army forces during a routine operation on Wednesday, adding that soldiers from the 828th Brigade (Bislach) were moving through the city of Rafah when they encountered three Palestinian gunmen. As the soldiers pursued them, Al-Sinwar separated from the other two.
According to the Israeli army, Israeli forces later fired a tank shell at the building where two of the gunmen were hiding and at another building where Al-Sinwar was hiding.
Israeli media and military officials said there was no prior intelligence indicating Al-Sinwar’s presence in the area.
On Thursday, the Israeli army released a video clip that it said showed the “last moments” of Hamas leader, showing him sitting on a sofa in a destroyed living room on the first floor of a partially destroyed building. He was suffering from a serious injury to one of his hands while covering his face.
The blurry footage showed Al-Sinwar throwing a stick at a drone that was approaching him in his final moments.
