A young boy has suffered severe injuries after detonating a Houthi landmine in the countryside of Hodeidah Governorate, western Yemen.
The Yemeni Landmine Monitor, an independent NGO, reported that a 13-year-old boy, identified as Yusuf Talal Farhan, was critically injured in both feet and suffered an open leg fracture after stepping on a Houthi landmine near his home in Maghari village, Hays district, southern Hodeidah.
The Houthis have planted hundreds of thousands of landmines and explosive devices in residential areas and public roads across Yemen, causing thousands of civilian casualties, mostly women and children, according to government and human rights reports.
