Yemeni Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Mohsen al-Da’ari, said that Houthi operations against shipping in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea will not stop even after the Gaza war ends.

In an interview with Al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper, al-Da’ari affirmed that the continued Houthi attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea pose a threat to Yemen and the region, and that the militia exploited this to escape the dire situation it faced internally, and therefore tried to invent the idea of participating in supporting Gaza to exploit the sympathy of Yemenis for Palestine.

Lieutenant General Mohsen al-Da’ari pointed out that the Houthi group will not stop targeting international shipping even if the war in Gaza stops, noting that they are always looking for new alliances with terrorist groups and exploiting conflicts in the region to prove their existence.

Al-Da’ari described the situation in the region as dangerous, noting that recent events in Gaza and Lebanon indicate rising tensions. He warned of an unprecedented regional war in the face of escalating violence and conflicts.

He said: “What is happening in the region has become very worrying, especially the acceleration of events in the recent period, starting with terrorist militias in Yemen, and an unacceptable war of genocide in Gaza for a year, as well as what is happening now in southern Lebanon. What is happening in the region heralds an extraordinary war.”

In a separate context, Lieutenant General al-Da’ari spoke about the readiness of the Yemeni forces for all options, whether war or peace, noting that there are great efforts to achieve peace, but he does not rule out the renewal of war at any moment.

He pointed to the continued provocations of the Houthi group, which result in the fall of martyrs and wounded.

The Yemeni Defense Minister affirmed that the Yemeni army is ready to move towards Sana’a at any moment, noting that the Houthi group are weakening day after day.

He continued: “We in the Yemeni army, armed forces, Ministry of Defense, and all Yemeni components and resistance, our primary goal is Sana’a. These militias are an unsustainable and temporary project that can end at any moment, and therefore we are ready to be in those places today, tomorrow, or the day after tomorrow. These militias do not abide by covenants and agreements, and when they weaken, they use several methods to gain the sympathy of others.”
