Saudi Arabia Reiterates Commitment to Ending Yemen War

Saudi Arabia reaffirmed on Wednesday its commitment to restoring peace to Yemen, supporting all efforts to resolve the crisis, and alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people. This statement was made during a speech at the 57th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
In a speech delivered by Asia Ba Akdha, Head of the Human Rights Section at the Saudi Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Saudi Arabia reiterated its initiative to end the war in Yemen and reach a comprehensive political solution.
She added, “In light of the tensions in the Red Sea region that affect the security and safety of international shipping lanes and global trade, Saudi Arabia renews its call for wisdom, avoiding escalation, and strengthening joint efforts to preserve the security and stability of the region, where freedom of navigation is an international demand that affects the interests of the entire world.”
The Saudi delegation participated in a general debate on providing technical assistance and capacity building at the Council and welcomed the issuance of the twelfth report of the Yemeni National Commission for Monitoring Human Rights Violations, stressing the importance of the Office of the High Commissioner continuing to intensify its support for the Commission.
