Internet service interruption in the provinces of Shabwa and Marib in eastern Yemen

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom

Local sources reported on Wednesday that internet, landline, and Yemeni Mobile services have been continuously cut off in large areas of Shabwah and Marib governorates in eastern Yemen for the second consecutive day.

The sources indicated that “internet and government communication services have been cut off from the districts of Marakha, Bayhan, Asilan, and Ain in northwestern Shabwah, and Harib district in southern Marib for the second consecutive day without knowing the reasons.”

The sources explained that the outage of wired internet, 4G, landline, and Yemeni Mobile services coincided with a sabotage act against the fiber optic cable between the districts of “Huswain” and “Al Ghaydah” in the neighboring governorate of Mahra.

In late September, the communication cable was subjected to a sabotage act in the “Marakha al-Sufla” district in northwestern Shabwah governorate, which led to the outage of internet and communication services in several districts in Shabwah and Marib governorates.
