The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate has renewed its rejection of the appearance of journalists before specialized terrorism courts due to publication cases in the temporary capital, Aden.

The Specialized Criminal Court for Terrorism Cases in Aden had issued a decision summoning a number of journalists and activists to appear before it in the case of the murder of Brigadier General Adnan al-Hammadi on charges of incitement.

In a statement, the syndicate expressed its deep concern about the summoning of journalist Abdul Aziz al-Majidi and the nature of the charges leveled against him and a number of activists summoned in the case of the murder of Brigadier General Adnan al-Hammadi. The syndicate considers the charges attributed by the criminal court to journalists in publication cases, as part of a criminal formation, to be a serious and unacceptable matter.

The syndicate believes that this approach undermines the course of justice in a case that has occupied public opinion, as the assassination of the military commander and national figure Adnan al-Hammadi was a great shock to the popular circles.

The syndicate reiterated its position rejecting the appearance of journalists before a specialized terrorism court on the grounds of publication cases, and considers this approach by the judiciary in areas under the control of the legitimate government against journalists to be condemnable and undermines the reputation and integrity of the judiciary.
