A Yemeni Academic And His Mother Were Killed Due To The Israeli Occupation’s Shelling Of Their Home In Rural Lebanon.

A Yemeni academic and his mother were killed in an Israeli airstrike on their home in rural Lebanon today.

Former Yemeni diplomat, Abdulrahman al-Ashwal, stated that “Dr. Ali al-Hajj was killed along with his mother in an Israeli airstrike that targeted his mother’s home in the village of Al-Rafid, in the western Bekaa region, yesterday (Friday).

He pointed out that the shelling, which targeted residential houses in a rural Sunni area far from the border with Palestine, resulted in the killing of many civilians, noting that “the area does not host Hezbollah elements or camps.”

According to al-Ashwal, Dr. Ali al-Hajj was one of the sons of the Yemeni community in Lebanon. His father is from Yareem area in Ibb Governorate (central Yemen), and his mother is Lebanese.

Dr. al-Hajj, the eldest of his siblings Qasim and Ahmed, was a beloved and dedicated person known for his good relations with everyone. He was known for his social activism and his close ties to the Yemeni community in Lebanon.

Al-Ashwal added that al-Hajj was a frequent visitor to the Yemeni embassy to follow up on his studies and enroll his brothers and sisters in Lebanese universities.
