Yemeni Nationals Stranded in Lebanon Face Dire Circumstances as Embassy Urges Caution

Yemen Monitor/Exclusive

Hundreds of Yemeni students and long-time residents in Lebanon are facing dire circumstances amid the escalating conflict, as the Yemeni embassy in Beirut and relevant authorities have neglected their pleas for protection or safe shelter.

According to Yemeni residents in Lebanon, many members of the Yemeni community have called on the Yemeni embassy and the legitimate government to take measures to protect them by providing safe havens or evacuating them to Jordan and then returning them to Yemen.

In response, the Yemeni embassy in Lebanon has urged Yemeni residents in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, to exercise caution and vigilance, coinciding with the military escalation between the Israeli occupation and Hezbollah.

In a statement last Monday, the embassy called on Yemenis residing in Beirut to avoid unnecessary movement, exercise caution, and follow the instructions of Lebanese authorities. They were also asked to register their names and addresses via the embassy’s email to facilitate communication and follow-up on any new instructions.

This comes amid increasing tensions in the region as the Israeli occupation forces have launched hundreds of airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in various southern and southeastern regions of Lebanon over the past few days. The occupation also targeted several sites in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

Yesterday, Tuesday, the occupation announced the launch of a ground operation, described as “limited and precise,” against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. The operation aims to target the group’s infrastructure in several villages near the border, which “pose an immediate and real threat” to Israeli towns in the north.

The operation also includes ground forces supported by airstrikes and artillery fire, targeting military objectives in full coordination with infantry forces.
