Yemen Meteorology Center: Cloudy Weather with Possibility of Heavy Thunderstorms

National Meteorology Center forecast on Friday partly cloudy skies turning to cloudy during the day with scattered thunderstorms in various parts of the country.
The center noted cloudy weather with the possibility of varying rainfall in parts of the governorates of Taiz, Ibb, Rima, Dhamar, Mahwit, and Amran, and scattered rainfall accompanied by occasional thunder in parts of the governorates of Saada, Hajjah, Sana’a, Al-Dhalea, Al-Bayda, and Shabwa, with the formation of fog or mist on the western highlands.
It indicated partly cloudy skies turning to cloudy during the day and scattered rain accompanied by occasional thunder in parts of the coasts of the governorates of Hodeidah, Taiz, Lahj, Aden, Hadramaut, and Mahra, extending westward to include parts of the Tihama plains, with very strong winds around the Socotra archipelago reaching a maximum speed of more than 40 knots, and moderate to active winds on the eastern and southern coasts.
In the desert areas, partly cloudy skies were forecast in parts of the deserts of Al-Jawf and Marib, with moderate winds becoming active at times.
The National Meteorology Center warned citizens in areas expected to receive rainfall to avoid valleys and flood channels and to take precautions against lightning.
It also warned drivers on roads and mountain slopes of reduced horizontal visibility due to rain and fog formation.
