The American Center for Justice expressed deep concern on Sunday over the tragic traffic accidents that occurred south of Taiz Governorate.

In a statement, the center expressed its deep sorrow and regret regarding the tragic traffic accidents that took place on the Sahi -Karbah road, resulting in the death of 16 civilians, including 3 women and 2 children, in three separate car accidents on the alternative road that civilians are forced to use to travel between Taiz and Aden due to the ongoing siege imposed by the Houthi group on the city of Taiz, forcing residents to take extremely dangerous alternative routes.

The center affirmed that these incidents are not the first of their kind, as it had previously documented in its report, “The Siege of Taiz: A Humanitarian Catastrophe,” the consequences of the siege imposed by the Houthi group on Taiz Governorate, noting the recording of 541 traffic accidents that resulted in the death of 434 people and the injury of 1026 others, while material losses exceeded two million dollars.

It renewed its call on the international community to quickly end the tragedy of the siege of Taiz by exerting serious pressure on the Houthi group to open the main roads to the city, remove mines, and remove their snipers from the hills and heights overlooking the entrances to the city, and allow the entry of humanitarian aid.
