Has the Rainy Season in Yemen Ended? A Meteorologist Responds

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom

Meteorologist Jameel Al-Hajj has forecast scattered heavy rainfall in various areas of the deserts and valleys of Mahra and Hadhramaut over the coming hours.

He also predicted rainfall in different parts of Shabwa, the highlands and plains of Abyan, southern Baihan, Yafe’a, areas of Dhale’a and eastern Lahj.

Al-Hajj stated that heavy rainfall is also expected in scattered areas of Taiz, Ibb, and western Dhamar, as well as in parts of Rimah, Hajjah, Amran, western Sa’ada, southwestern Sana’a Governorate, and areas of eastern Hodeidah districts, with light to moderate rainfall in parts of the Hodeidah highlands.

He stressed the importance of caution against lightning strikes and following the instructions issued by the Meteorological Center to avoid their risks. He added that the reason behind the significant increase in lightning victims in the highlands and coastal plains is the concentration of deep convection over the highland areas adjacent to the coastal plains.
