Al-Saqr Sports Club Regains its Headquarters

The administration of Al-Saqr Sports Club in Taiz Governorate officially received its headquarters and stadium on Saturday from the Emergency Police and Traffic Police, in accordance with directives from head of the Presidential Council Rashad Al-Alimi during his visit to the city.
During the handover, in the presence of the head of the committee tasked by the governor of the governorate, Brigadier General Abdo Farhan, the deputy chairman of the board of Al-Saqr Sports Club, Riyad Al-Harawi, expressed his happiness and that of all club members and the sports family at receiving the headquarters and stadium.
In a press conference, the deputy chairman of Al-Saqr Sports Club said, “We return to our club full of ambitions and hopes. We say that the Al-Saqr that stumbled due to the circumstances of the war has returned to soar again according to mature visions, fruitful construction projects, and aspirations that we will strive to achieve with the cooperation of all relevant parties from state institutions, organizations, and the private sector.”
The deputy chairman of the club added, during the handover, which was attended by a number of military and security leaders and the administration of the Youth and Sports Office, “We will begin mobilizing energies, capabilities, and all means of construction, rehabilitation, and change to achieve a rise based on a large project, a project that takes into account the return of Al-Saqr better than it was before, not only in its infrastructure and facilities but also in all its games and activities.”
He pointed out that rebuilding a destroyed club is not an easy matter and will require a lot of time, effort, and money, expressing his hope to return the club to its position in various sports, cultural, and social aspects, appreciating all the efforts made to return the club to its board of directors, its general assembly, its fans, and its sports teams.
For his part, the chairman of the club’s board of directors, Shoqi Ahmed Hael Saeed, said, “We congratulate the Al-Saqr Yemen Club family in particular and the sports family in Taiz and Yemen in general on the return of the club and its official handover today. It is an important and joyful historical moment.”
He added, “As much as we are saddened by the extensive damage to the club and its annexes, we affirm that we will strive as one unit to rebuild our prestigious club in a manner befitting it, according to modern and renewed visions, in coordination with all relevant authorities, donors, and those whose serious cooperation we hope for, so that Al-Saqr of championships may return to the podiums of crowning, God willing, and we express our sincere gratitude to all those who played a role in the success of these efforts.”
It is worth noting that the head of the Presidential Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, had directed last month the evacuation of Al-Saqr Sports Club in Taiz from armed manifestations.
