Yemen Meteorological Center Forecasts Heavy Thunderstorms and Issues Warnings

The National Meteorological Center in Yemen forecast on Saturday partly cloudy to cloudy skies at night, transitioning to cloudy skies and heavy thunderstorms in several governorates over the coming hours.
The center indicated that varying amounts of rainfall are expected in parts of the governorates of (Abyan, Lahj, Taiz, Ibb, al-Dhalea, Rima, al-Mahwit, Hajjah, and Sa’ada), and scattered rainfall accompanied by thunder is expected in parts of the governorates of (Amran, Sana’a, al-Bayda, and Shabwa).
The center noted partly cloudy to cloudy skies and thunderstorms on the coasts of the governorates of (Hodeidah, Taiz, Lahj, Aden, Hadramaut, and Mahra), extending westward to include parts of the Tihama plains, with very strong winds around Socotra Archipelago reaching a maximum speed of 40 knots, and moderate to active winds on the eastern and southern coasts.
In desert areas, skies will be clear to partly cloudy with cumulus clouds over parts of the deserts of (Al-Jawf and Marib), with moderate winds becoming active at times.
The meteorological center warned citizens in areas expected to receive rainfall to avoid valleys and flood channels and to take precautions against thunderstorms.
The center also alerted drivers on mountain roads of reduced horizontal visibility due to rainfall on slopes and mountain roads.
