Houthis : Two Extra Flights A Week From Sana’a Airport To Jordan

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom

The Houthi group announced on Tuesday, adding two weekly flights from Sana’a International Airport to Jordan, for the first time since Israeli airstrikes on fuel tanks in the port of Hodeidah led to a reduction in the number of flights.

Mohammed Quhim, Minister of Transport in the Houthi government (not internationally recognized), said in a press statement to the group’s media that “two additional flights per week have been added starting today, Wednesday, in addition to the ongoing daily flight from Sana’a to Jordan and back.”

He pointed out that “adding two flights per week, in addition to the daily flight of Yemenia Airlines via Sana’a Airport to Queen Alia Airport in Amman, came after providing fuel for aircraft in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil and Minerals (Houthi)”.

He added that “the Israeli aggression on fuel tanks which belongs to  aircraft refueling  in Hodeidah had led to a reduction in the number of flights from Sana’a to Jordan to one flight daily.”

Last July, the UN announced that the Yemeni government and the Houthi group had reached an agreement to de-escalate the situation regarding the banking sector and airlines.

The UN envoy indicated that “the agreement included the cancellation of recent decisions and measures against banks by both sides and the cessation of any similar decisions or measures in the future.”

The agreement also stipulated the resumption of Yemenia Airlines flights between Sana’a and Jordan and increasing the number of its flights to tow daily, and operating flights to Cairo and India daily or as needed.
