The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) announced on Tuesday that the tanker “Amjad,” which was reported to have been attacked while passing through the Red Sea, “has not suffered any injuries or damage.”

In a statement carried by Reuters, the company stated: “We unequivocally confirm that Amjad was not targeted and has not suffered any injuries or damage. The vessel continues to operate at full capacity and is heading to its planned destination without interruption.”

It added: “Bahri has immediately informed all relevant authorities and remains in constant communication with our crew, and we are closely monitoring the situation.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Reuters reported, citing two sources, that a Saudi oil tanker and another oil tanker flying the Panamanian flag were attacked on Monday in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen.

Since November, the Houthis have been launching missile and drone attacks on ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

Two sources said that a Saudi oil tanker, “Amjad,” and a Panamanian-flagged tanker, “Blue Lagoon 1,” were sailing close to each other when they were hit, but both tankers were able to continue their voyages without significant damage or injuries to their crews.

One of the sources said it was unlikely that “Amjad” was directly targeted.
