Yemeni Meteorological Center Predicts Continued Heavy Rainfall in Several Governorates

The National Meteorology Center forecast on Wednesday that thundery showers will continue in several governorates.

The center said in its weather bulletin that it expects the unstable weather conditions to continue over most parts of the country, accompanied by heavy thundery showers, hail, and downdrafts over the highlands of the governorates of (Saada, Hajjah, Mahwit, Amran, Sana’a, Dhamar, Raymah, Ibb, Taiz, Al-Dhalea, Al-Bayda, Tihama Plain, and the coasts of Hajjah, Hodeidah, and Taiz).

It also predicted scattered thundery showers of varying intensity in parts of the governorates of (Lahj, Abyan, Marib, Al-Jawf, Shabwa, Mahra, Hadramaut, and the southern coasts).

The center warned citizens in areas expected to receive rainfall to avoid valleys and flood channels, and to take precautions against thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail.

It urged drivers on mountain roads to be cautious due to reduced visibility caused by rainfall and the formation of thick cumulus clouds, as well as the risk of landslides and the collapse of mud and traditional buildings.

The center called on relevant government agencies to take the necessary measures and precautions to protect lives and property and to follow its bulletins and reports.
