Iran Appoints New Ambassador to Houthis

Iran has appointed a new ambassador to the Houthi group in Yemen, replacing the former ambassador, Hassan Irloo.
The Houthi-controlled Saba news agency reported that “Jamal Amer, the foreign minister of the unrecognised Houthi government, received in Sana’a the new Iranian ambassador, Ali Muhammad Ramadhan, who presented a copy of his credentials on the occasion of his appointment as ambassador and plenipotentiary envoy to the group.”
In turn, Ambassador Ramadhan expressed his happiness at presenting a copy of his credentials, affirming that he will work hard to strengthen bilateral relations between his country and the Houthi group.
On December 21, 2021, Tehran said that its envoy in Houthi-controlled Sanaa, Hassan Irloo, had died from the coronavirus after being returned to his country in mid-December. Iran accused Saudi Arabia of delaying his departure from Sanaa, a charge the Saudi government denied.
