On Tuesday morning, Rashad Al-Alimi, the Head of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, arrived in the city of Taiz, in central Yemen, marking his first visit since assuming office in April 2022, as reported by a correspondent from Yemen Monitor.
Earlier on Monday, his chief of staff and personal security team arrived in the city.
A joint security campaign in the city has commenced the enforcement of a ban on carrying firearms indiscriminately within the city, effective Sunday. The campaign warns that any unlicensed firearms or those not used for official duties will be confiscated, destroyed, and that strict legal action will be taken against anyone violating this announcement. Additionally, it is anticipated that Al-alimi will announce development and infrastructure projects for the city.
