Casualties in an Attack on a Military Site Southern Yemen

Yemen Monitor/Aden/Exclusive:

Security sources said on Tuesday that an attack by gunmen believed to be affiliated with Al-Qaeda targeted a security checkpoint of the Security Belt forces in Abyan Governorate, southern Yemen, a day after a suicide attack by Al-Qaeda killed 16 soldiers.

The sources told “Yemen Monitor” that there were casualties among the Security Belt forces in an attack on a military site at the entrance of “Wadi Uomran” in Mudiyah district, east of Abyan.

The specific number of casualties on both sides is not known, but the sources indicate that a military commander of the Security Belt was at the military site during the hours-long attack, in which all types of weapons and shells were used.

This comes hours after Al-Qaeda organization’s propaganda media announced the death of two of its members “in a Security Belt attack that targeted their vehicle.” This is in reference to the killing of armed organization militants and a Security Belt commander, Hussein al-Rabdh, in a clash at ” al-Qouz” checkpoint on Sunday, while they were on board a military patrol of the Giants Forces led by Abdulrahman al-Mahrami, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council.

Last Friday, dozens of Security Belt forces were killed and injured after a car bomb exploded, driven by a suicide bomber, targeting a military barracks east of “Mudiyah” . Al-Qaeda claimed responsibility for the attack.
