The early warning center in Yemen’s Hadhramaut governorate warned on Friday of a weather disturbance that will affect parts of the governorate and the rest of the Yemeni governorates over the next 72 hours.

The center stated that “the latest weather map data and forecasts indicate a state of atmospheric instability in parts of Hadhramaut governorate, extending to all Yemeni governorates as a result of the extension of the influence of a tropical disturbance wave originating from the advancement of a low-pressure system in the northern Arabian Sea accompanied by a moist air mass over the next 72 hours, and will continue intermittently until the end of this week.”

The center predicted that “the activity of belts of heavy thunderstorms will expand during the afternoon and evening periods until the early hours of the morning in scattered parts of the directorates of Al-Wadi and Hadhramaut deserts, with an extension towards the southern highlands, coastal mountain ranges, and neighboring rural areas, with an impact that includes some coastal areas.”

It also expected that the area will be affected by rainfall varying between moderate to heavy to very heavy at times, with the flow of floods in some channels of valleys and their branches inside cities and villages.

The early warning called on “all citizens to exercise caution during rainfall and avoid risking crossing valleys when they are flowing, and to be careful to raise public and private property and vehicles from the channels of valleys and their branches.”

It emphasized avoiding touching light poles or electrical conductors during and after rainfall and staying away from flying objects during strong winds.

It indicated a decrease in horizontal visibility during heavy rainfall on roads, emphasizing the need to follow safety instructions from the dangers of storms and lightning.
