Seven Killed and Injured in Eastern Yemen Storms (Photos)

One person was killed and six others were injured today, Sunday, as a result of the severe storms accompanied by rain that hit the governorate of Marib in eastern Yemen.

The Executive Unit for the Management of Displaced Persons Camps explained that a citizen died and six others, including women and children, were injured as a result of the severe storms that hit the city this morning.

The executive unit indicated that three of the injured, along with the deceased, were transferred to Marib Hospital.

Photos and videos on social media showed damage to caravans and tents in the Jo Al-Nissim camp, as well as roofs of houses, walls, electrical poles, and advertising billboards on the streets, as a result of the severe storms followed by heavy rains.

Earlier on Sunday, meteorologists said that a rainy weather was moving towards Yemen from the Empty Quarter.

Meteorologist Abu Nasser al-Babakri said that the effects of the main masses of the rainy weather began to appear clearly over the Empty Quarter, as satellite images show the formation of strong thunder cells.

He added that these effects are expected to extend over the next 24 hours to include large areas of Yemen.
