Yemen Meteorology center Forecasts Continued Thunderstorms in Several Governorates
Yemen Monitor/News Room
The National Meteorology Center forecast on Tuesday that scattered thunderstorms of varying intensity, some very heavy, accompanied by downdrafts and occasional hail, will affect several governorates, including Lahj, Taiz, Ibb, Al-Dhale, Dhamar, Rima, Sana’a, Al-Mahwit, Hajjah, Amran, and Saada. These weather conditions will also extend westward to the coastal and mountainous areas of Tihama and eastward to Al-Bayda and the highlands of Abyan, Shabwa, and Hadramaut.
The weather bulletin also predicted thunderstorms of varying intensity with occasional thunder in parts of Mahra, Marib, Al-Jawf, and the coastal areas of Aden and Lahj governorates.
Citizens in areas expected to experience heavy rainfall were warned to avoid valleys, flood channels, and to stay away from areas prone to thunderstorms and hail.
There were also warnings about potential rockfalls and mudslides, especially on roads, mountain slopes, and traditional mud houses.
The center also cautioned about reduced visibility due to rainfall and low-lying clouds on mountainous roads, as well as strong downdrafts that could stir up dust and sand, particularly in coastal and desert areas.
The center urged relevant government agencies to take necessary measures to protect lives and property and to follow their issued bulletins and reports.
