Yemen Monitor/ Sanaa/ Exclusive:

Military sources have reported that the US has relocated two destroyers from the Gulf of Oman to the Red Sea, off the coast of Yemen. This move comes amid concerns over a potential retaliatory strike by the Houthi group in response to Israel’s involvement in the recent Iranian tensions.

The sources added that the destroyers , USS Cole and the USS Laboon,  were transferred from the Gulf of Oman to the Red Sea. This deployment is part of broader US preparations and the reinforcement of forces in the Middle East in response to perceived threats from Iran and its proxies in the region.

The sources spoke on the condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to speak to the media.

Separately, Sanaa-based sources revealed to Yemen Monitor that the Houthis are considering targeting Israeli energy infrastructure as part of Iran’s retaliation for the assassination of Hamas’ political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

The Pentagon is also taking steps to deploy additional ground-based missile defense systems and send another squadron of fighter jets.
