American Ambassador Meets “Ahmed Ali Saleh,” Son of Former Yemeni President

Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh, the son of the former Yemeni president, met on Monday with the U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, in the first visit by a Western diplomat following the lifting of sanctions against “Ahmed Ali” and his father, Ali Abdullah Saleh.
During the meeting, the American ambassador extended his warm congratulations to the Deputy Chairman of Al-Mo’atmar political party on the lifting of international sanctions against him and his father, according to media outlets close to “Ahmed Ali.”
These outlets reported that the meeting addressed issues related to the future of Yemen in light of ongoing developments in the region and the concerted international efforts to contain the crisis and conflict in Yemen.
It is still unclear whether this meeting indicates a new role for “Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh” in the future of the country.
