Sources: Houthis Plan to Target Israeli Energy Facilities (Exclusive)
Yemen Monitor / Sana’a / Special:
Informed sources told “Yemen Monitor” that the Houthi group is planning to target Israeli energy facilities as part of Iran’s response to the occupation following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh and the bombing of the strategic port in Hodeidah.
Three sources revealed that the group’s retaliation response will include Israeli oil facilities in the Mediterranean Sea and the economic infrastructure, also in retaliation for the attack on Hodeidah port at the end of July.
The sources spoke to “Yemen Monitor” on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter.
The sources noted that a special operations room was established for retaliation for the assassination of the head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Ismail Haniyeh, on the night he was martyred, and that the targets were discussed extensively, including civilian and military objectives.
According to one of the three sources, who is a senior official in Sana’a ,the Houthis are planning to target the “Leviathan, Tamar, Shaman, and Zohr” gas and oil fields, as well as power stations like “Orot Rabin, Ashkelon, Haifa, and Rotenberg,” along with dozens of oil tanks and oil transfer lines.
When asked by one of the sources whether they have the capability to target these facilities, he sarcastically responded that “hitting them is much easier than hitting Tel Aviv,” referring to last month’s attack that resulted in the death of an Israeli and injuries to ten others just 100 meters from the U.S. embassy.
Houthis responses will include weapons such as long-range smart missiles and suicide drones that Iran is accused of supplying the Houthis.
In a speech last Thursday, Houthi leader Abdulmalik al-Houthi stated that the response to the assassination of Haniyeh will not be symbolic.
