Yemen Monitor / Newsroom

The Yemeni Islah Party strongly condemned the nefarious assassination of the prominent political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, former Prime Minister of Palestine and head of the political bureau of Hamas, calling for the revitalization of the resistance against the occupation.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Islah Party described the assassination as “a heinous crime and a cowardly act that is condemned by all standards, diplomatic norms, and international laws.”

It considered the assassination as a serious escalation and a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, which imposes a duty on the international community, represented by the United Nations, to protect individuals.

The Islah Party emphasized the necessity for the international community to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for its repeated violations against everything Palestinian, both land and people.

It called on the Palestinian Authority, political factions, and the resistance to unite and rally together against the Zionist war machine, which has been shattered against the steadfastness of the Palestinian people since the inception of the resistance until now.

In its statement, the Islah Party noted that despite the pain and wounds of the Palestinian people and the Arab and Islamic worlds, this crime should serve as new fuel to invigorate the resistance against the occupying entity, and to inspire the nation’s resistance in supporting the Palestinian people to regain their rights and establish their state that looms on the horizon.

Earlier on Wednesday, Hamas announced the assassination of Haniyeh following a “treacherous Zionist raid” on his residence in Tehran, after he participated on Tuesday in a ceremony for the inauguration of the new Iranian president, Masoud Bezheskian.
