Saudi Arabia Encourages ‘De-escalation’ in Yemen
Yemen Monitor/ Jeddah/ Exclusive:
The Saudi Cabinet reaffirmed on Tuesday its support for efforts to de-escalate the situation in Yemen and “maintain calm” in the country.
In its meeting chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Cabinet stated that the Kingdom continues to stand with Yemen and “encourages efforts to de-escalate and maintain calm, and everything that contributes to reaching a comprehensive political solution within the framework of the UN-sponsored roadmap to support the peace process.”
The Cabinet also emphasized the importance of international cooperation in combating drug-related crimes, highlighting the success of security campaigns in this field.
Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, had announced last week an agreement between the internationally recognized Yemeni government and the Houthi group on measures to de-escalate the economic and banking situation and expand direct flights from Sana’a to include Cairo and India.
