The UN Mission to Support Al-Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA) in Yemen announced on Tuesday that it had recorded six incidents related to explosives, resulting in nine civilian casualties over the past month.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page today, the UN mission said: “These casualties included the death of a child and a woman, and the injury of three other children.”
It noted that the affected areas included the districts of Al-Durayhimi, Al-Tuhayta, Beit Al-Faqih, and Hays in the western Yemeni governorate, highlighting that these incidents “underscore the devastating impact of these events on the most vulnerable members of society.”
Hodeidah Governorate is one of the most frequently affected Yemeni governorates by landmine and explosive remnants of war incidents.
According to previous official Yemeni and UN reports, landmines have killed thousands of civilians in many governorates since the war began in March 2015.
