Yemen Monitor/ Taiz/ Exclusive
Unknown gunmen kidnapped a military commander in the Yemeni army in Taiz governorate on Sunday, a military source told Yemen Monitor on Monday.
The source told Yemen Monitor correspondent that unknown gunmen “kidnapped the financial representative of Taiz axis, Colonel Fouad Shamsan al-Jalal, on the Tur al-Bahah road in Lahj governorate.”
The source added that the kidnapping “came in response to the 35th Armored Brigade’s arrest of smugglers from the Al-Mishamira tribe, one of the tribes in Al-Wazieya district, on charges of smuggling Africans, and to pressure the military leadership in Taiz to release the tribal gunmen.”
No comment has been issued by the Yemeni army yet.
