Houthis Discuss Fuel Crisis and Build new Fuel Storage Tanks
Yemen Monitor/ Sana’a/ Exclusive:
The Houthi-controlled parliament (not internationally recognized) has requested that the group’s authority in Sana’a secure a strategic reserve of petroleum products and stabilize the market amid concerns about the ability of Hodeidah port to import and store these products.
On Sunday, the council stated that it had asked the internationally unrecognized Houthi government to “work to provide a strategic reserve of petroleum and gas products by establishing a number of storage tanks and oil facilities in several safe locations that are difficult for the aggression to target.”
The House of Representatives called for continuing “to mobilize all capabilities to provide petroleum products to maintain market stability by finding alternative storage options and continuously assessing the stock of derivatives and covering any shortages in the current stock to avoid any future crises.”
The Israeli occupation had previously bombed 38 fuel storage facilities in Hodeidah governorate, and sources told Yemen Monitor that the Houthis would face difficulties importing petroleum products.
