Yemeni Government Prepares to Resume Oil Exports

Yemen Monitor /Aden /Exclusive:

Yemeni government sources reported on Saturday that the government is preparing to resume oil and gas exports from the ports of Hadramaut and Shabwah governorates in the southeastern part of the country.

This comes as part of an agreement with the Houthi armed group, in exchange for the Yemeni government reversing the Central Bank of Yemen’s measures, although this is not explicitly stated, according to sources.

Yemeni President Rashad al-Alimi arrived in Hadramaut earlier today, coming from Saudi Arabia.

According to sources, the first shipment is expected to export later this week.

The government’s acquisition of oil and gas revenues is expected to resume the payment of salaries to government employees. However, government sources said that the administrative and financial procedures related to this are still under discussion by a joint committee of the Houthis and the government, which is assumed to have been formed later.

Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, announced on Tuesday an agreement between the internationally recognized Yemeni government and the Houthi group on measures to reduce economic and banking escalation and expand direct flights from Sana’a to include Cairo and India.
