A young Yemeni man, displaced from Houthi-controlled areas, attempted suicide inside his home in a displacement camp in Marib Governorate, eastern Yemen.

Local sources reported that “the dire living conditions pushed one of the displaced persons from the province of Rima to attempt suicide inside his home in Al-Jafeena camp in Marib Governorate.”

The sources explained that “the citizen and his children were in a very difficult living situation, having no food for more than three days, until he attempted to cut his veins and suffered severe bleeding, after which he was transferred to the intensive care unit of a hospital in the city.”

The local authorities in Marib, Yemen, say that “there are more than one million displaced people in the areas of the governorate under the control of the legitimate government, fleeing their towns and villages that are located within governorates controlled by the Houthis.”
