Iran Hopes for a Sustainable Peace Agreement in Yemen ‘as Soon as Possible’

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani expressed hope that a sustainable peace agreement in Yemen would be signed as soon as possible.

Kanaani welcomed the statement issued by Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, regarding the agreement in Yemen to resume flights from Sana’a Airport and resolve financial and banking issues across Yemen. He affirmed that Tehran considers any agreement that contributes to reducing economic pressures and lifting the air, sea, and land blockade on Yemen as serving the interests of the Yemeni people and contributing to the establishment of stability in Yemen. Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy to Yemen, had announced on Tuesday an agreement between the internationally recognized Yemeni government and the Houthi group on measures to reduce economic and banking escalation and expand direct flights from Sana’a to include Cairo and India.
